No matter where in the world you go you always run into a Scouser, pt 4,372:

Who's that chewing the scenery in the season finale of 30 Rock? Why, it's our own Elvis Costello, who popped up for the grand finale of the peerless New York comedy, which screened in the States last week.

Elvis was part of a cameo-tastic episode which saw him take to the mic alongside Mary J Blige, the Beastie Boys, Sheryl Crowe and others to help Jack Donaghy (Alec Baldwin) find a donor organ for his long lost father (Alan Alda) with the ludicrous benefit event Kidney Now!.

"Listen... when someone starts talking in the middle of a song, you know it's serious," he implores. And in a potentially shark-jumping moment of art imitating life, He Needs a Kidney is now available on iTunes, with all profits going to America's National Kidney Foundation. Aw. The corporate suits of the Scheinhardt Wig Company aren't made of stone.

But does Elvis - who is blackmailed into the benefit in an act of desperation by Jack Donaghy - really lead a double life as an international art thief? I think we should be told...
