Rocky Horror: the most fun you can have with your -

- no, that cliche doesn't really work for this one
Flamboyant crossdressing sex musicals don't generally make their way onto the pages of this blog, but this time I'm prepared to make an exception. The latest touring production of the Rocky Horror is on at the Empire for the next two nights only, and although it probably won't need any help flogging tickets at this stage, has to come recommended.
I've seen the Rocky Horror Show numerous times - usually spurred on by the intriguing premise of Jason Donovan as Frank N'Furter, who invariably always got "sick" - and one thing that struck us this time is that no matter how much you know the drill, it always manages to get filthier and funnier every time.
Michael "Sinbad" Starke is on hand as the narrator for the hometown audience, and proves himself quite the team player. He rushes through his lines a bit though, and I was never sure whether he wasn't pacing himself deliberately.
Ultimately, though, it worked, as there wasn't a second of filler in this trimmed down production, just hit after hit of weird and wonderful fun. David Badella, who has been a stirling Frank on tours before, plays it the Tim Curry way and doesn't disappoint.
It's cold and grim outside, so if you're looking for a bit of inspirational cheer, break out the suzzies and check it out while you can.
