Introducing Watershed comedy nights
Run by friends and business partners Michael Keating and Paul Blair, they devised their night and began to publicise it via their printing and distribution company The Advertiser UK.
After trying out a few one-off nights last month, one in Pablo's on Lark Lane and another at Liverpool Cricket Club, they've found a new home at brand new club Envi on Fleet Street in the city centre and plan to keep the nights a weekly event whenever possible.
The new night launches on May 9, following on on the 16th and 23rd and into June except for Sundays when the World Cup is on.
Michael said: "Everyone likes something different, and it's a cheap way to have a good night. A lot of people we spoke to as we promoted it had never even thought about going to a comedy night.
"So we've got together some of the best comedians in the country and some great up and coming stand ups too. It can be hard for comics to get out there and get that exposure, get a crowd to perform to."
They're thinking about bringing in open mic spots in future as part of a plan to keep promoting budding talent.
Paul added: "It's about giving people an alternative, a bit of variety on a Sunday night, to do something different rather than just go to the pub."
Find Watershed on Facebook or check out the website at www.statuspromotions.com (they also promote dance nights in town). Tickets for Watershed nights are available from Ticketline, Ticketweb and Envi, or you can pay on the door.
