Carra's Sports Cafe Express finally takes the plunge with a regular comedy night

The new touring production of Spamalot opened at the Liverpool Empire - and received a well-deserved standing ovation for its troubles.

Stand ups Jason Moorhouse and Seymour Mace are trying out their brand new one man, hour long shows in Liverpool this Thursday before taking them up to the Edinburgh festival.

The Phoenix Nights and Ideal comics are appearing at Laughterhouse at the Slaughterhouse on July 22 and tickets are selling fast - £10 per show from 0151 227 5946.

"And Anne Robinson is vile! People always ask me if she's as bad a she is on TV and she's worse! VILE!" Marcus Brigstocke doesn't mince words, but at least, admirably, he'll stand by them...

Great news from Gatacre's own Peter Serafinowicz, who has announced he is to star in a new show with Arrested Development's Will Arnett

Following on from the last blog, here's a pic of John Bishop at The Gallery, Clayton Square, with the portrait of him as drawn by artist Madelaina Murthwaite. Apparently he was so impressed he wants to snap it up himself!

You can still see the iron artwork of his brother, Eddie Bishop, at the Gallery until later this month.

He's everywhere at the moment, but John Bishop is still taking time out to open an exhibition of his brother's artwork tonight (July 8).

My friend the artist Madelaina Murthwaite has been promoting the work of Eddie Bishop in her premises The Gallery in Clayton Square. With her gift of the gab, it was no surprise that she'd soon talked John into visiting - and working!

An ironmonger by trade, it's only recently that Eddie has taken to using his talents to create artwork - and they really are stunning pieces, so this exhibition will be well worth a look in its own right besides.

The exhibition, called the Irony of Wood, is also in collaboration with marquetry specialist Paul Lomas Harcombe. It launches tonight at this ticketed event, £3 on the door with all proceeds going to Fybromyalgia support, and runs until July 25
